Safe use of Boats and Other Vehicles

Please ensure that you are thoughtful of the Waipuka community when launching boats this summer.

It has been brought to our attention in prior years, that there have been times, when visitors and residents of Waipuka take risks when launching and bringing boats in after a day on the water.

This creates a potentially dangerous situation for all enjoying the beach over the summer.

The Committee of Management will be issuing warning letters to those who indulge in this type of risky activity this summer, as it is in breach of your lease.

Motor bikes and Quad bikes on the beach should be ridden at a sedate speed. Use of vehicles at low tide is not encouraged due to the damage to the pipi beds.

Jet skis and boats should be no closer than 50 metres of swimmers in the water. A $5000 penalty applies.

Please hold onto your own keys this summer. The sharing of keys is not promoted, as it contributes to further negligent behaviour. Ensure that the gate padlock is closed after entry and exit.

Visitors to the Beach

The Incorporation has a very clear – no gang policy.

If you have visitors who belong to an affiliated gang, please remind them to be respectful and remove their patches, colours, or any gang affiliated clothing or symbols. Our whenua is to be enjoyed by all.

Please be responsible hosts and remind your manuhiri this is a unique and closed community of friends and whanau who come from all over the world to enjoy the whenua left by our tipuna. In order for us to enjoy this space together, we must feel safe, supported and unthreatened, so we ask that you kindly leave your patches/colours and affiliations at the bridge. We are one community on this side of the bridge.

Abandoned Vehicles

There are a number of vehicles that have been sitting at the beach unused for a few months. If the vehicle isn’t registered or parked within the boundary of your bach, the vehicle will be removed at the expense of the owner.

(Does not apply to vehicles that are actively in use)

Dogs on Leashes

There have been a few incidents where dogs have either suffered injury or caused harm to others within our community. Often at no fault of their own. If you are a pet parent, and many of us are, please be a responsible and ensure your dogs are kept within a safe parameter visible to the family, or kept on a leash so as to avoid unnecessary harm, stress or discomfort to the animals and others.
